Functional Features

2. RDCD-Ⅲ/R30 Cable Path Detector 


The intelligent cable comprehensive detector is a multifunctional cable path identification detector, with multiple functions such as pipeline path detection, cable identification, and pipeline grounding fault location (optional). The instrument is composed of a transmitter, transmitting current clamp, receiver, receiving flexible current clamp, connection test cables, stethoscope (optional), A-frame (optional accessory), etc. 


Functional Characteristics 


(1) Pipeline Path Detection: It can be used for path detection, pipeline survey, and depth measurement of metal pipelines and underground cables without excavation. The instrument uses multiple filter technologies and has certain anti-interference capabilities, enabling precise positioning and depth measurement. It is suitable for detection and line inspection of various underground metal pipelines, pipeline management and maintenance, municipal planning and construction, pipeline detection in power supply departments, etc., and is one of the necessary instruments for pipeline maintenance units. This function is realized by the cooperation of the signal transmitter, receiver, signal transmitting clamp, and connection test cables. The instrument has the following characteristics:

(13) Cable identification: It is designed to solve the technical problems of cable identification for power cable engineers and cable workers. It can identify live cables and de-energized cables. Users can accurately identify a target cable from multiple cables through the instrument, avoiding serious accidents caused by mistakenly sawing live cables. During cable identification, 10 cables can be pre-calibrated at the transmitting end, and then identified at the far end, which greatly saves the round-trip operation time of engineering personnel and improves work efficiency. A is marked for successful cable identification, and an × is marked for non-target cables, which can quickly and automatically identify the target cable. This function is realized by the cooperation of the signal transmitter, receiver, signal transmitting clamp, connection test cables, and flexible clamp. 

(14) Signal transmitter: It is used for signal transmission in pipeline path detection and cable identification. The device can add identification signals to the target cable through direct connection output, clamp coupling, induction, etc. The signals include 10 different pulse signals: 512Hz, 1024Hz, 640Hz (cable identification), 1280Hz, 2.56kHz (fault location), 3.20kHz, 8.19kHz, 33kHz, 82kHz, and 196kHz. The maximum signal output power is 10W, with 10 adjustable gears, thus adapting to different application environments and making pipeline detection and cable identification more accurate and reliable. The instrument is equipped with a built-in high-power rechargeable lithium battery, automatic impedance matching, and full-automatic protection. The host features a 5.6-inch color capacitive touch LCD screen, which dynamically displays the signal output status and battery usage in real time. 

(15) Transmitting clamp: Suitable for clamp coupling method. The transmitting clamp couples the signal emitted by the transmitter to the target cable. The clamp opening size is Φ150mm. The transmitting clamp has directionality, and the transmitted signal flows in the direction indicated by the arrow on the transmitting clamp. 

(16) Receiver: Used for receiving signals in pipeline path detection and cable identification. It is equipped with multiple shielded 3D antennas, which can effectively identify the 10 different pulse-encoded current signals of 512Hz, 1024Hz, 640Hz, 1280Hz, 2.56kHz, 3.20kHz, 8.19kHz, 33kHz, 82kHz, and 196kHz generated by the transmitter. It can also identify 50Hz and 60Hz power frequency signals. It uses a 3.5-inch color LCD screen to dynamically display 360° omnidirectional pipeline path indication, depth, current, and the relative position of the pipeline in real time. 

(17) A-frame (optional accessory): A voltage signal sensor in the shape of an "A" specially used for grounding fault location of directly buried cables. The two probes or discs of the A-frame can accurately receive the step voltage signal transmitted by the transmitter, and after transmitting it to the receiver for data analysis, the grounding fault point of the cable can be accurately positioned. The probes or discs are designed to be independent and interchangeable. The probes are suitable for muddy ground, and the discs are suitable for cement pavement where direct insertion into the ground is impossible. The lead wire of the A-frame is designed with an aviation socket, which is connected to the receiver with an aviation plug connection cable, and can be disassembled at will. It is compatible with an independently designed handle to enable the A-frame to work independently with other functions. 

(18) Flexible current clamp: Used for cable identification. This current clamp is a Rogowski coil with excellent transient tracking capability, which can quickly identify the pulse-encoded current generated by the transmitter and is suitable for thick cables or irregularly shaped conductors. Its clamp inner diameter is 200mm, and it does not need to disconnect the measured circuit, realizing non-contact measurement, which is safe and fast. 

(19) Special reminder: When identifying de-energized cables, it is strictly forbidden to connect them to live cables. Live cable identification is only suitable for three-core armored cables. During identification, the transmitting clamp and receiving clamp should not be mixed, and the consistency of the input signal direction should be ensured.

Interference Distance

When the coupling method and induction method are used, the transmitter will produce interference in a short distance. The distance of interference is related to the transmission power and frequency. The greater the power and the higher the frequency, the stronger the interference.

3. RDCD-/RC11 Cable Fault Locator  


Due to the extreme complexity of power cable laying environments, precise fault localization has always been a critical step in cable fault testing. Even with accurate rough distance measurement, external environmental influences often make it difficult to quickly and accurately locate the fault. The RDCD-/RC11 Cable Fault Locator is a portable, ultra-quiet, visual impact discharge receiving locator with path indication. Specifically designed for use with high-voltage impact generators, this professional receiver employs impact discharge time-difference localization. Leveraging leading intelligent background noise reduction and sound tracking technologies, it achieves continuous optimization and perfect audio effects by recording characteristic discharge sounds, comparing them with field-collected signals, and using intelligent acoustic-magnetic time-difference methods to pinpoint fault locations within the probe diameter. The built-in path indication function ensures rapid positioning during precision localization. 

When RDCD-/RC11 applies front-end continuous impact discharge, the discharge sound from the fault point within the rough-measured distance propagates through the ground above the cable and is recorded by the ground sensor. The distance from the detection point to the true fault point can be calculated in two ways: the volume of discharge noise; the time difference between the magnetic field signal and sound signal generated by the fault discharge reaching the ground sensor.
